I think that the unknown pistol used in episode 7 might be an MP-446C:

Anti-gun overtones

Should we sorta address the fact that this show has become very hardcore hypocritically anti-gun this passed season? Especially with the episode of them calling an obvious M4 an AR-15 Assault rifle. Which I had previously wanted to point out in the forum about how the politics of show writers will put out bad influences. Excalibur01 (talk) 10:15, 9 March 2017 (EST)

I wouldn't say it's gone 'Hardcore' anti-gun, it presents both sides of the argument through different characters, but now Oliver has become Mayor it was obvious that gun control would be an issue they would tackle and the way they handled it makes sense. There wasn't a sweeping "Guns are bad" statement, they stuck fairly close to reality, there was an incident that forced the Mayor to react, he sidestepped all questions about his own feelings on Gun control, while people around him shared their feelings and experiences. Also from what I understand an AR-15 is the civillian version of the M4, so referring to it as an AR-15 woudn't be wholly inaccurate. --RedRobinAlpha (talk) 11:00, 9 March 2017 (EST)

As far as I can remember this one episode was the only one where they have really talked about gun control, and for a TV show it actually seemed relatively balanced to me, with their being a relatively equal split with the main characters on the "pro" and "anti" sides of the argument. Also, didn't they actually address the Assault rifle/weapon thing with Rene correcting Curtis who kept saying "assault weapon"? I can't really remember as it has been a few weeks, was the rifle supposed to be a legally obtained AR-15 that they incorrectly depicted as firing full auto, or was it supposed to be an illegal full auto weapon? If it was the former, I will sort of let that go as the majority of blank fire weapons in inventories are full auto (some converted in such a way to be full auto only with no option for semi), but if it was the latter then that kind of makes the whole debate of gun control in this instance moot if it was an illegal weapon in the first place. --commando552 (talk) 11:45, 9 March 2017 (EST)

It's call being "soft" about it. Also depends on the writer at the time. Hawaii Five-0 had a couple episodes where clearly you can tell the writers were through their anti-gun rhetoric into dialogues for characters that shouldn't be saying it. Like Diggle in this episode identifying an actual M4A1 assault rifle as an AR-15 assault rifle. Use of wrong terminology for a show that is watched by people who don't know anything about guns gives the wrong impression to very impressionable audiences. What was this line they used "Land of the Heavily armed and home of the stupid"? That's basically an insult to all gun owners in America. Excalibur01 (talk) 11:58, 9 March 2017 (EST)

That quote is from a character who was on one side of the argument, but there was pro gun stuff said by other characters so to quote from one side only seems a bit unfair. Also, I've said it before but i'll say it again, I have absolutely zero problem with people saying stuff like "AR-15 assault rifle". To me the term AR-15 refers to the design of the firearm and not a specific semi-only model (AR-15s existed before the semi-only guns). In fact, a fair number of earlier M16s and M16A1s along most of the 600 series carbines were marked and marketed as AR-15s and they are all select fire, so I really don't get the argument that AR-15 only applies to semi-only guns and not military assault rifle/carbine variants. --commando552 (talk) 12:32, 9 March 2017 (EST)

Because in this day and age of very highly charged political debate, the anti-gun people are using every bit of fuel. Just recently there's a problem with a court declaring AR-15s are not protected by the second amendment in their area. It's no longer about semantics because they are not the same. Proper identification is what we do here, otherwise every single "M4/M16s" on every page should be an "AR-15 assault rifle" because most likely none of them were ever issued in the military and were in fact built from the ground up on the civilian market by movie armorers. That's not how it works. Nobody in movies calls an M4 an AR-15 unless the writer behind purposefully did it because of their anti gun views or because they don't know guns.
