Surface is a science fiction television series about a strange new species of animal causing strange occurrences in the world's oceans. The story follows the experiences of a marine biologist, an insurance claim adjuster, and a teenager living in North Carolina as they attempt to understand the animals while government officials attempt to keep the creatures a secret. The show aired on NBC for 15 episodes from 2005 to 2006.

Numerous law enforcement and US military personnel carry and use the Beretta 92FS (standing in for the M9) as their sidearm through out the series.

Sheriff's deputies carry what are likely to be Glock 17 pistols in several episodes. Glock 17s are also carried by ASI (Agency of Strategic Intelligences) agents in Episode 12, one of which is acquired by Rich (Jay R. Ferguson). Rich later hands the Glock over to Laura Daughtery (Lake Bell) in Episode 13. A civilian in the same episode can be seen using a Glock 17 with a stainless slide.
