Superman: The Movie (1978)

Superman: The Movie is the 1978 film adaptation of the DC comics series. The film was directed by Richard Donner (Lethal Weapon) and starred Marlon Brando as Superman's father Jor-El, Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor and Christopher Reeve as Superman/Clark Kent. An extended version of the film was released on DVD in 2001. Reeve would return as the Man of Steel in three sequels: Superman II, Superman III and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. The 2006 semi-sequel Superman Returns was directed by Bryan Singer and starred Brandon Routh as the Man of Steel.
