Custom Colt Commander

David Starsky (Ben Stiller) carries a custom Colt Commander Series 70 with Novak sights, a stainless barrel, a stainless guide rod, ambidextrous safety, and a beavertail grip safety (some of these feattures were not available in 1974, when the film takes place) as his sidearm in the film.

Colt Combat Commander - .45 ACP.
Starsky fires his custom Colt Commander at a running suspect.
After Starsky accidentally shoots Huggy Bear's (Snoop Dogg) iguana, his Colt Commander stovepipes on him.
Starsky points his Colt Commander at Huggy Bear's men.
Starsky points his Colt Commander at Hutch when he tries to push a dead body away from the shore, hoping another precinct will find it.
Starksy takes cover from sniper fire with his Colt Commander at the ready. Note the stainless barrel and guide rod.

Starsky fires seven rounds (the full 6+1 capacity) into Feldman's garage door, claiming he is hiding his drugs in their. To his horror, he finds a pony instead with seven new bullet holes in it. Note how his gun stovepiped once again.

Like an idiot, Starksy spins around and fires his Colt Commander behind his back, which ends up wounding his Captain, Cpt. Dobey (Fred Williamson).
