Sherlock Holmes is the famous literary character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle that is considered one of the most important staples of the mystery genre. The character has been featured for over a century in various forms of media including feature films and television series.

- The Hound of the Baskervilles - A 1939 Hollywood movie starring British actors Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson. This movie marks the first of fourteen Sherlock Holmes films starring Rathbone and Bruce as Holmes and Watson.
- The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - A 1939 movie, the second of Rathbone-Bruce filmes, based not a novel or story but on 1899 stage play.
