S.W.A.T. (1975 - 1976)

S.W.A.T. was a television action series that followed officers of an elite special weapons unit within the ranks of a Southern California police department. While Los Angeles already had such a unit in its police department, the series, which aired on ABC for two seasons from 1975 to 1976, helped popularize the idea of "Special Weapons and Tactics" to the general public. The series would be adapted as a feature film in 2003 and then would return to television as a weekly series on CBS in the fall of 2017.

The following weapons were used in the television series S.W.A.T. (1975):

Rifles

M16

The original M16, the first version, firing in a 20-round magazine, adopted in large numbers by the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam. This has the original 3-prong flash hider. It would later be replaced by the upgraded M16A1 - 5.56x45mm
