The Ruger 10/22 is a very popular sporting weapon, named based on its .22 caliber and 10 round magazine capacity. The gun is very popular in customization and many after market parts can be bought to customize the rifle. Unfortunately, this rifle was added to the Assault Weapons Ban while Clinton was in office, likely due to how customizable it was (even though any logical thinking person knows this gun was built entirely as a sporting weapon, with no intention of being used as an assault weapon). Luckily the rifle is available today and still popular among shooters. Heavily tricked out models have been used in many marksmanship competitions. Available in .22 Long Rifle, formerly availible in .22 Magnum and .17 HMR. (10/22 magnum and 10/17)

Info

The Ruger 10/22 is a very popular sporting weapon, named based on its .22 caliber and 10 round magazine capacity (however it can take a variety of high capacity aftermarket magazines). It is the undisputed king of .22LR semiautomatic rifles in the United States, due, mostly to it's prevalence and affordable price. Remington, Winchester and other manufacturers have built and marketed .22LR semiautomatic guns, the Ruger has been sold in greater numbers than all of it's competitors. The gun is very popular in customization and many after market parts can be bought to customize the rifle. Heavily customized models have been used in many marksmanship competitions.

The Ruger 10/22 has been used in Covert Military Operations around the world, usually as a dedicated Suppressed rifle. With subsonic ammunition, the suppressed shots from the 10/22 are essentially silent. The only sound you hear is the action racking back and forth. The IDF routinely carried suppressed and scoped Ruger 10/22s during the years of the "Intifada" in the West Bank and other places. The IDF snipers would "kneecap" the ring leaders of the rioters from a distance. Crippling them was seen as preferable to killing them with conventional sniper rifles.

The Ruger 10/22 is currently available in .22 Long Rifle, formerly available in .22 Magnum and .17 HMR. (10/22 magnum and 10/17) but no longer. Rimfire magnum models were discontinued in 2006 due to disappointing sales.
