Resident Evil 2 (2019) is a PC, PS4 and XBOX ONE remake of the original 1998 Resident Evil 2, in the same vein as the 2002 Resident Evil remake. The remake features significantly updated graphics, new third-person gameplay, and a retold storyline (which was retold once before in Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles).

The following weapons appear in the video game Resident Evil 2 (2019):

Handguns

Heckler & Koch VP70M

As of the E3 2018 Demo of the remake, the Heckler & Koch VP70 is called by the series' staple name for the gun, "Matilda", and is underloaded to 12 rounds, possibly to match the Browning Hi-Power. In a recent demo, the VP70 is shown with an unrealistic 24 round extended magazine, the burst fire stock and what appears to be a compensator. The weapon description in the in-game menu says Non standard issue gun with problems that make it impractical for the general public.

Browning Hi-Power Mark III

Leon is seen using a Browning Hi-Power Mark III in the reveal trailer for the remake, which makes sense, as the Hi-Power is one of the stated official duty pistols of the RPD, though it is unsure whether Leon will be able to use one in the final game. In a recent video with Claire, she is seen using the Browning with a laser sight. it is called "JMB Hp3". The "Hp3" is obviously a reference to the actual name of the gun, Hi-Power Mark III, while "JMB" likely stands for John Moses Browning.

Smith & Wesson Bodyguard

Claire is seen using the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard revolver in the new Gamescom 2018 trailer, fighting a new William Birkin. In a new video featuring Claire, the name of her revolver is revealed. It is called "SLS 60" and it states that it is a 5-shot 9mm handgun.

Pistol

Ada Wong is seen using a pistol in the trailers and released game footage.

Revolver

RPD Chief Brian Irons is seen using a revolver to threaten Claire in the Gamescom 2018 trailer.

Submachine Guns

Ingram MAC-11

The MAC-11 is possible to see in the Claire Redfield's Demo used against Willian Birkin.

Shotguns

Shotgun

Leon is seen carrying and using a shotgun in the Sewers gameplay videos.

Grenade Launchers

M79

Claire is seen with an M79 on her back, and in action, in the Gamescom 2018 Demo, used against William Birkin. In a recent video with Claire, her grenade launcher can be upgraded from pistol grip to full length which reduces recoil and allows shots to travel in a more stable trajectory. It should be noted that when the launcher has a pistol grip, it only takes up one slot in the inventory while when it is full length, it takes up 2 slots.
