The following weapons appear in Red Dead Redemption II

Overview

Like the eighth generation versions of Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption II has both first-person and third-person modes that can be switched at the press of a key. This page will ideally cover both first-person and third-person views of weapons. Similar to Red Dead Redemption ammunition is generalized by type (minus "Sniper Rifle Ammo") but this time comes with more variety. There are "High Velocity", "Express", Shotgun Slugs, and even explosive and incendiary rounds. They also have introduced a very manageable (i.e. not annoying) weapon degradation system. Barrels, triggers, frames, hammers, sights, and stocks can all be visually customized.

Handguns

Borchardt C-93

The Borchardt C-93 is returned from the first game as the "Semi-Auto-Pistol". It is first available for purchase in Chapter 5 and, due to it's box magazine, has a much faster reload speed over the Mauser Pistol.

Colt New Army & Navy

The Colt New Army & Navy is confirmed to be returning from the previous game and can be unlocked for early use upon the game's release by completing a series of tasks in GTA Online. The "High Roller" skin for the revolver is one of the four early access DLC items.

Colt Single Action Army

Various characters can be seen using Single Action Army revolvers. Early in the game (Chapter 2) if you do the Stranger side mission "The Nobelist Men, and Woman" you have a chance at collecting two unique versions of the Colt that come with various increased stats.

Smith & Wesson Schofield Model 3

The Smith & Wesson Schofield Model 3 revolver appears as the "Schofield Revolver". Dutch owns a pair of these revolvers as his personal firearms. After a particular mission in Chapter 4, you can conclude "The Noblest Men, and Woman" Stranger quest grabbing a unique variant called Calloway's Revolver.

Mauser C96

The Mauser C96 returns from the previous game. Unlike in Red Dead Redemption the gun is correctly depicted as a semi-auto only version rather than an anachronistic machine-pistol. By doing the Stranger quest "The Noblest Men, and Woman" you can get a gold plated version of this gun off the body of Billy Midnight. The standard version does not unlock for purchase until much later in the game (though a free one can be grabbed during a mission late in Chapter 4).

A low modeled U. S. Johnson Model 1836 is seen in the mission of Jeremiah Compson.

Volcanic Repeater

The Volcanic Repeater returns also from the previous game. When firing Arthur Morgan performs a subtle flip cock between shots. The weapon holds eight shots, but oddly adding the extended barrel (with tube magazine) does not increase capacity.

Rifles

Carcano M91/38

The anachronistic Carcano M91/38 Short Rifle returns from the previous game instead of an accurate M91 Long Rifle. Oddly enough it has a rear sight of a long M91. It is only available with a mounted scope. You receive the weapon during a mission in Chapter 6.

Henry 1860

Arthur Morgan is seen with a Henry 1860 lever action rifle. It appears as the "Litchfield Repeater" and is depicted with an enlarged lever loop. The weapon is first available during a mission in Chapter 6.

Krag-Jørgensen Rifle

A hybrid Krag-Jørgensen of a US and Danish variant appears as the "Bolt-Action-Rifle" and is the weapon of choice of Bill Williamson in promotional materials. The weapon is unlocked, for use by the player, in Chapter 3. Unlike in Red Dead Redemption Arthur Morgan reloads five rounds quickly into the breach instead of using a stripper clip.

When your tent is upgraded an unusable rusty Sharps 1874 Buffalo rifle with spike bayonet can be seen.

Spencer Model 1860 Carbine

Arthur can be seen with a Spencer Model 1860 Carbine slung across his back. Sadie Adler is also seen using one. It appears as the "Carbine Repeater", inverted from its designation in Red Dead Redemption. An interesting feature for this rifle; to make up for it's slow fire rate the weapon is reloaded with whole tube magazines. Rather than Red Dead Redemption 1's strange breach reload animation.

Springfield Trapdoor 1873

The 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle appears in the game as the "Springfield Rifle". Unlike the previous game, the Springfield is now the full-length rifle and correctly holds a single round instead of four.

Winchester Model 1866 "Yellow Boy"

The Winchester Model 1866 "Yellow Boy" appears as the "Lancaster Repeater". This is a rather odd choice as by 1899, Winchester rifles like the Model 1873, 1892, and 1895 would have been more widespread.

Winchester Model 1890

The Winchester Model 1890 appears as the "Varmint Rifle". Being a .22 Caliber weapon in-game it comes with it's own ammo type. Rather than erroneously being grouped into the generic Rifle Ammo pool like other games would do.

Shotguns

Browning Auto-5

The Browning Auto-5 returns from the previous game. The Auto-5 is technically anachronistic as the game is set in 1899; though John Moses Browning began designing the shotgun in 1898, production officially began in 1902.

Double Barrel Shotgun

Sawed-Off Shotgun

Charles Smith can be seen with an Sawed-Off Shotgun. Unlike the first game, it has the exposed hammers. It can be dual wielded in pairs or with another weapon.

Winchester Model 1887

The Winchester Model 1887 appears as the "Repeating Shotgun".

Winchester Model 1897

The Winchester Model 1897 is available as the "Pump Action Shotgun." Unlike Red Dead Redemption the weapon is available from one of the early chapters, rather than a late-game weapon. Interestingly customizing the frame with brass makes the gun look like the Winchester Model 1893, the 1897's less reliable predecessor.

Machine Guns

Maxim 1895

Replacing the previous game's anachronistic Browning M1917, the far more period-appropriate Maxim 1895 has been seen in various trailers. Characters in the game continuously refer to this weapon as a "gatling gun". This is either intentional period specific slang meaning "machine gun" or it's an oversight by the developers who possibly had Gatling Guns planned for certain story missions.
