Ready Player One is the 2018 feature film adaptation of the Ernest Cline novel of the same name. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the film follows Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan), a young gamer living in the year 2045 who is intent on finding the secret Easter Egg hidden in a worldwide virtual reality environment known as the "Oasis". Both the novel and the film features several pop culture references, particularly from films from the 1980's and several iconic weapons from this era are featured.

The EM-1 Railgun, the fictional weapon from the 1996 film Eraser, is briefly featured as one of the available weapons used by "Aech" while on planet Doom.

M41A Pulse Rifle
Art3mis (Olivia Cooke) uses the M41A Pulse Rifle from the film Aliens as her weapon of choice in the Oasis.

Art3mis (Olivia Cooke) also uses several iconic handguns, including what appears to be the "Lawgiver II" from the 1995 feature film adaptation of Judge Dredd.

Briefly seen in an arms display in the office of Sorrento is the signature pistol carried by Captain Malcolm Reynolds (Nathan Fillion) in the series Firefly.
