The Patriot is a 2000 American Revolutionary War film that stars Mel Gibson as Benjamin Martin, a former soldier who tries to protect his family from becoming involved in the American colonists' effort for independence, but is drawn into the fight after a tragic encounter with British forces. The film was directed by Roland Emmerich and the cast included Heath Ledger, Jason Isaacs, and Adam Baldwin.

Kentucky Flintlock Rifle

According to this article[1], the rifle was custom built for Mel Gibson by artist Frank House, who also had a hand in training the actor on how to use it.

As stated in the article [2], Benjamin Martin's pistol was on loan from a collector, who happened to share the same initials as Mel Gibson's character. Tavington's pistol was built from a kit.
