The PPD-44 (to some extent a conventional name) was developed by gunsmith Vasiliy Dolganov for partisan forces operating in Belarus. It was a simple, but combat-ready weapon, in the spirit of the Sten. It is possible to use broken weapons, as well as scrap metal, in its manufacture. It was likely produced in double-digit quantities at maximum.
