Lt. Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen) uses a Colt Detective Special as his sidearm in the film.

Colt Detective Special - .38spl.
Drebin fires his Colt Detective Special out the back window of the driver's ed car, which he commandeered to pursue a criminal.
Drebin searches his house (with acrobatic flair!) with his Colt Detective Special drawn.
Drebin draws his Detective Special during the Angel's ball game when he spots an assassin.
