The Molot Bekas ("bekas" means Jack snipe, a type of bird) is a Russian pump-action shotgun based on the KS-23 for the civilian market. The first version was developed by TsNIITochMash and was essentially a KS-23 chambered in 16/35 gauge. This variant was produced by Molot in limited numbers during the early 90s. Later, Molot's designers improved this design and by 1995, the shotgun was converted to a more powerful 16/70 cartridge, and put into mass production in 1997.
A version in 12/70 gauge was introduced in 1999, called the Molot Bekas-M. Semi-auto variants of the Bekas-M are also produced; they designated as the Bekas-M-Auto.
Molot Bekas can be configured with a variety of barrels and stocks, although magazine capacity is not adjustable.
