Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is the sci-fi action series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and centers around a special unit of agents of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, Logistics Division, or "S.H.I.E.L.D.". The unit is led by Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), who appeared in several Marvel films and was presumed killed during the events of The Avengers (2012). In the series, this unit investigates occurrences that could pose a danger to the safety of the entire planet. The series, which was created by Avengers director Joss Whedon, premiered in the US on ABC in 2013.
