Manufrance Rapid
The Manufrance Rapid is a French pump action shotgun, produced by Manufacture Française d'Armes et Cycles de Saint-Etienne (Manufrance). Its design is based on the Remington 870, with an aluminum receiver. It was produced from 1958 to at least 1980 (information on the end of production differs). In the USA, it was sold in 1961 - 1965 as "Colt Coltsman" (this version was locally assembly by the Jefferson Manufacturing Company, later known as Kodiak Manufacturing), and parallelly during the 1960s - 1970s as "Manufrance La Salle", and also later was imported and sold by F.I.E. Its other famous names in the American market were Stoeger N° 7, H&R 440, Marlin Premier, and Kodiak #458.
Sawed-off Rapids were also used as a "door breaker" by GIGN, later replaced by the Browning BPS.
The semi-auto variant of the Manufrance Rapid, designated as the Manufrance Perfex, was also produced from 1961 (with many interchangeable parts with the Rapid).
In 2019, the French brand Manu Chasse (with production in Turkey) introduced the new "Rapid" pump-action shotgun, also partly based on the Remington 870, but there is no direct connection between the original Manufrance shotgun and it.
