The Manufacture d'armes de Bayonne (roughly translated as "Bayonne Arms Factory", abbreviated as MAB) was a French arms manufacturer that specialized in handguns. The company was founded by Léon Barthe in 1920 and was active from 1921 to the end of the 1980s.
The 1970s saw the first financial difficulties, which lead to the company becoming a subsidiary of Fabrique Nationale of Herstal sometime during the decade. Around 1985, the company went bankrupt and survived for few more years in the form of MABCO.
Most of MAB pistols are either based off or even close copies of other European pistol designs.
