Mannix is a detective TV show created by Richard Levinson and William Link, and produced by Bruce Geller (who also created the espionage series Mission: Impossible). It ran from 1967 to 1975 on the channel CBS alongside M:I.

Mannix followed the life of Los Angeles private investigator Joseph "Joe" Mannix, played by Mike Connors, and his African-American secretary, Peggy Fair (played by Gail Fisher). Mannix is of Armenian descent (like Connors himself), and is proficient in most athletics, including being a black belt in Karate, a decent skier, and an excellent pool player. He is also a veteran of the Korean War. In Season 1, he works for detective firm Intertect. Starting in Season 2, he lives and works in his own office at 17 Paseo Verde, West LA. He carries a Walther PP in Season 1, which can be seen in the intro, but starts to carry a Colt Detective Special from Season 2 onwards.

The show won the "Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Drama" in 1971, which was late Season 4 and early Season 5. Mike Connors himself also won an award for his portrayal of Mannix, the 1969 Golden Globe Awards (for which he was nominated six consecutive times) and 4 straight Emmy nominations from 1970 to 1973. Mannix, the series itself, was twice nominated for the Emmy Award for Best Dramatic Series. In 1972, writer Mann Rubin won an Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for the episode "A Step in Time" (S5E03).

Pistols

Walther PPK

The Walther PPK is a common gun used by criminals no matter where Mannix goes.

John Ogilvy (Sam Melville) points the PPK at Mannix in "Dark So Early, Dark So Long" (S5E01).

Ted Kilgore (Jeremy Slate) tells Mannix to hold it before the latter can draw his Colt in "A Step in Time" (S5E02).

If you can somehow ignore Chris Townsend's (Dean Stockwell) face, he fires the PPK at Mannix after taking the PPK from Ted in "A Step in Time".

Beretta M1934

In a continuity error, Harry Nelson's (James Daris) dropped PPK turns into a Beretta M1934 when Mannix picks it up.

Revolvers

Colt Detective Special

Mannix's standard sidearm is a Colt Detective Special. It is also common gun for "goons" to carry and use.

Mannix pops open his glovebox to reveal his Colt in "Cold Trail" (S5E02).

S&W Safety Hammerless

Leslie Fielding is given a nickel Smith & Wesson Safety Hammerless as a gift by her husband Glen, and it is used to shoot a intruder in "Dark So Early, Dark So Long" (S5E01). It is also handled by the police ballistics expert later in the episode.

The expert fires Leslie's revolver to test the bullets, giving the viewer a great shot of the top.

S&W Model 10

The Model 10 is often seen in the holsters of or being used by local sheriffs and police officers across the country.

Smith & Wesson Model 10 Revolver - .38 Special

The local sheriff in "Cold Trail" (S5E02) has a Model 10 as his on-duty weapon. The revolver is in the holster in the lower bottom.

The leftmost US Government agent holds his Model 10 later in the episode.

Sheriff Cisco (Perry Lopez) carries a Model 10 in his holster in "Wine From These Grapes" (S5E04).

Deputy Tom points the Model 10 at some workers, also in "Wine From These Grapes".

At Mannix's old home, Sheriff Cisco keeps a Model 10 on him.

Colt Official Police

The Colt Official Police is seen with a hodgepodge of different characters, from a young boy to a hypnotist. Most of the time, however, it is seen unfired.

Niles (George Voskovec) pauses to check a corner with his Official Police as he runs after Mannix in "Cold Trail" (S5E02).

The police officer in "A Step in Time" (S5E03) checks the vitals of the intruder with his Colt at the ready. This revolver appears to have a 5 in. barrel.

Jose holds the stolen revolver in "Wine From These Grapes" (S5E04).

Jose tilts the Colt revolver up, giving a slightly better view. Note all the chambers are loaded.

Shotguns

Unknown Shotgun

Sheriff Cisco Madeiras uses an unknown shotgun to quiet down some workers in "Wine From These Grapes" (S5E04). The scene is too dark to confirm any certain ID but it may possibly be a Winchester Model 1912.

The sheriff fires the shotgun in the air. While not exactly safe, they do happen to be in a rather deserted location.

Rifles

Sporterized K98

One of the goons during the car chase in "Cold Trail" (S5E02) uses a custom sporterized K98k with double triggers, a custom stock, a custom barrel, and a butterknife bolt. He fires it at Mannix's left rear tire repeatedly.

Waffenfrankonia Würzburg Gewehr 98 .30-06 "Cigarette Sporter" fitted with Böhler Stahl barrel. Cigarette Sporters were so-called due to them costing about a case of cigarettes from an Allied soldier to make. Many Kar98k rifles would wind up in similar configuration after WWII.

Explosives

Dynamite

The Jailhouse Assailant uses what is referred to as several sticks of "dynamite" to try and kill Juan Esparza in the jail.

The Assailant pulls out the dynamite out of the bag prior to throwing it.

Different gun racks can be seen throughout the series, often full with rifles and shotguns.

Police Wall of Guns

Wall of guns seen in the ballistics lab. Some guns such as the Mauser 1934 and the Colt M1911A1 can be seen.
