Macross Frontier (マクロスF (フロンティア) Makurosu Furontia) is a Japanese animated science fiction space drama that aired in Japan on MBS from April 4, 2008 to September 26, 2008. It is the third Japanese anime television series set in the Macross universe, notable for combining real life military weaponry and fictional mecha (giant robot) weaponry.

Macross Frontier is the story of a human space colony fleet trying to find a habitable planet near the center of the Milky Way galaxy in the year 2059, 50 years after a space war that nearly wiped out humanity (depicted in the first Macross TV series from 1982 that was adapted as the first generation of Robotech in the USA in 1985) and 51 years after the U.N. Wars (depicted in the Macross Zero prequel OVA from 2002).

The story focuses on three young adults (a famed popstar singer, a private military mecha pilot, and a rising pop singer) and the events that occur around them as the colonization fleet faces a crisis of alien origin when insectoid aliens known as Vajra attack the humans who defend themselves using advanced variable fighter mecha known as valkyries (or veritechs in the original Robotech adaptation).

The anime series was also adapted into 2 separate anime films, Macross Frontier the Movie: The False Songstress released in Japanese theaters in 2009 and Macross Frontier the Movie: The Wings of Goodbye released in 2011.

Macross Frontier (2008).
Macross Frontier: The False Songstress (2010).
Macross Frontier: Wings of Goodbye (2011).

The following weapons were used in the anime series Macross Frontier:

Handguns

SIG-Sauer P226

What appears to be a SIG-Sauer P226 is used by Alto Saotome as his sidearm after he's indoctrinated into the Strategic Military Services, presumable as the PMC's sidearm of choice with Ozme Lee using it as well. Leon Mishima also uses it, albeit animated with a much longer barrel in The Wings of Goodbye movie.

Factory black (K-Kote) SIG-Sauer P226 pistol - 9x19mm.
Alto practices firing the P226 at the SMS firing range in "Miss Macross" while being supervised by Ozma Lee.
Alto fires his sidearm at a Hydra creture attacking Ranka in "Legend of Zero". The slide lacks any SIG markings on it.
Ozma takes aim at Brera Sterne in the sewers in "Goodbye, Sister".
The P226 is fired at Stage II Vajras in "Diamond Crevasse" at the rooftop of Mihoshi Academy.
Leon Mishima getting his just desserts after being shot in the head by cyborg agent Brera Sterne in "The Wings of Goodbye" movie.

Single Action Army

Sheryl Nome uses a replica Single Action Army with a pink finish and modified to be used via CGI effects in "The False Songstress" movie during her debut concert in the Frontier colony.

Submachine Guns

Fictional Helical SMG

Brera Sterne uses a fictional helical-type submachine gun in "The Wings of Goodbye" movie when he leads a raid on Macross Frontier's bridge, killing everyone inside. The design appears to be inspired by helical submachine guns such as the Calico SMGs.

Brera opens fire on unarmed NUNS personnel in "The Wings of Goodbye".

Assault Rifles

EX-GEAR assault rifle

A heavy EX-GEAR assault rifle is used by the SMS and NUNS forces as the standard assault rifle when using EX-GEAR power armor or powered exoskeleton mecha suits.

Mikhail and Alto open fire on Stage II Vajras while in their EX-GEARs in "Diamond Crevasse".
NUNS commandos surround Grace O' Connor during a raid in "The Wings of Goodbye" movie.
Ozma covers Alto in the underground rail tunnel below Island-1.
Closeup of the assault rifle's barrel while Ozma opens fire on Brera. The barrel features look similar to the SRM Arms 1200 shotgun series.

Heckler & Koch G36

The Heckler & Koch G36 is seen with New United Nations soldiers as their main assault rifle. Note that in the show, it's depicted to have a long barrel, a buttstock with a cheek rest and different ejection port, most likely based on the Truvelo Raptor.

Mishima signals for NUNS soldiers to raid the hospital's helipad.
Alto covers Ranka and Sheryl after the latter is broken out of prison.

Sniper Rifles

Accuracy International Artic Warfare

An AI Artic Warfare is used by a hired assassin in "Diamond Crevasse" to assassinate President Howard Glass. It has a groove in the stock and it lacks a thumbhole.

Accuracy International L96A1 - 7.62x51mm. The stock PM variants is exactly the same but lacks the iron sights as standard.
The hired assassin takes aim at President Glass in "Diamond Crevasse". The stock doesn't have the thumbhole in it.l
Somehow, the animators didn't render the sniper rifle properly. However, it has the appearance of an integral suppressor attached. And yeah, there's a big Stage II Vajra in front of him. Sucks to be him...
