The first sample was created in 1998 and chambered in .38 Special. Subsequent known revolvers had a modified design, and were chambered in .357 Magnum, it was also announced version in .22LR. REX revolvers were publicly presented at the IWA-2000 weapons exhibition in Nurenberg, Germany. However, soon after this the development was closed.
