The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003)

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is the 2003 film adaptation of the graphic novel series created by Alan Moore. The film stars Sean Connery as the legendary adventurer Allan Quatermain, who teams with other famous literary characters to face a mysterious foe bent on starting a world war. The film is set in the year 1899, but in keeping with the fantasy aspect of the film, features several weapons that could be considered anachronistic.

The following firearms were used in the film The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen:

Pistols

Webley Green revolver

Allan Quatermain (Sean Connery) uses a Webley Green revolver as his sidearm throughout the film. Dante (Max Ryan), Fantom's second in command, while disguised as a British Army officer is armed with a Webley Green revolver while the Fantom kidnapped German scientists in Berlin.

Luger P08 Artillery

Dorian Gray used an anachronistic gold plated Artillery Luger P08. The Luger's design was first patented in 1898, one year before the film takes place. However, it did not enter production until 1900, making it unlikely that Dorian would own one (on the other hand, Dorian is working for a criminal mastermind who profits from wartime technology so maybe it was designed by the great professor).

Rifles

Lee-Enfield Mk.I rifle

Long Lee-Enfield Mk.I rifles are first seen carried by British soldiers in their futile attempt to stop the tank breaking into the Bank of England at the beginning of the film. Long Lee-Enfield rifles would later be used by the Fantom's men (disguised as British soldiers) in Berlin when they abducted the German scientists.

Double Barreled Express "Matilda" Rifle

Quatermain (Sean Connery) carries as his primary firearm a double barreled exposed hammer "Express Rifle". It appears to have barrels between 28 and 30 inches in length.

Bruce the Barman (Director Stephen Norrington in a cameo) lifts "Matilda" from behind the bar and tosses it to Quartermain.

Agent Sawyer takes aim with the rifle. In the DVD commentary, it was mentioned that this was an authentic rifle, not a lightweight prop, which made it very difficult for actor Shane West to keep steady.

AK rifle

Winchester 1873 lever-action rifle

Submachine Guns
