Law & Order: Los Angeles (2010-2011)

Law & Order: Los Angeles was the fourth direct spinoff of the series Law & Order. Broadcast for one season on NBC from 2010 to 2011, the series format was similar to the original Law & Order, but instead focused on the detectives and prosecutors working in the city of Los Angeles. Midway through the season, the series underwent some major cast changes and was retitled Law & Order: L.A. (the series was later released on video under its original title).

The casting differed from the original Law & Order in that the lawyers were split into two teams, with the teams taking turns each episode with little crossover. The mid-season shakeup did away with that, casting off both of the "second seat" DDAs and bringing back Alana de la Garza as Connie Rubirosa from the original Law & Order, and in an unprecedented move, moving DDA Ricardo Morales from the "Order" side to the "Law" side, with the character of Det. Rex Winters (Skeet Ulrich) being killed off. The final episode filmed ended with a cliffhanger, which was never resolved due to the show's cancellation. What made things even more confusing for the audience was the fact that episodes made before the shakeup but not aired were then aired after the "finale," so it was the original cast, with the very much alive Det. Winters, who actually closed out the season (and the series.)
