Bill's ([[David Carradine]]) handgun of choice is a nickel plated [[Colt 1877 Thunderer]] chambered in .41 Long Colt it was the larger of the two Colt 1877 Double Action models; the other being the [[Colt Lightning]] which was chambered in .38 Long Colt. They both had the "Bird's Head" Grip, this grip style is used to make the gun more concealable. Bill seems to carry it with him into the sequel as well, this time sporting some type of custom muzzle break. (Actually, this is a regular single action Colt or clone with a birdshead grip attached. The Thunderer is a double-action, with a trigger that sits farther forward in the trigger guard)

During the anime segment, Matsumoto's guards are seen armed with some variants of the Tokarev TT-33 pistol, probably the Norinco Type 54, given the Asian setting, but it's impossible to tell for certain. The slides only lock back half way when empty.

In the anime segment, a bad guy uses it to ignite liquor bottles in O-Ren's house.
