Jean-Pierre Cassel was a French actor. Born 27 October 1932 in Paris into a family doctor and an opera singer. He made his debut in the movie The Happy Road (1957), which was filmed in Paris at the invitation of Gene Kelly. He had noticed him director Philippe de Broca and cast him into prominent roles. During the 1960s and 1970s he worked with Jean Renoir (The Elusive Corporal), Ken Annakin (Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines) and Jean-Pierre Melville (Army of Shadows). In 1974, Jean-Pierre Cassel drew thousands of American cinema-goers in the role of King Louis XIII in Richard Lester-processing of The Three Musketeers (1973) and The Four Musketeers (1974). In the film version of Agatha Christie novel - Murder on the Orient Express played alongside stars such as Albert Finney, Ingrid Bergman, Sean Connery, Vanessa Redgrave, Michael York, Jacqueline Bisset and Anthony Perkins. Za his artistic career he made over 150 films and TV series. His art has never been fully appreciated, won a prize and was once nominated for a César. He died in Paris 19th April 2007. His son, Vincent Cassel and daughter Cecile continue his craft.
