Unlike most movies and television shows ''JAG'' was usually pretty accurate about having the right rifle type for the locations.

These guns make sense in ''JAG'', because the military does use a lot of "Frankenstein" M16s. The Air Force being the worst offender, but they can be found in service with all branches.

JAG - Season 1 (1995-1996)

The following weapons were used in Season 1 of the television series JAG:

Handguns

Beretta 92FS

While in reality the Beretta M9 is the standard issue sidearm for US military, the Beretta 92FS is the weapon seen used in the series by the US military personnel. The Beretta's first appearance on the show was in "Desert Son" (S1E04) when it was used by USMC First Lieutenant Jay Williams (Neal McDonough) in the climax of the episode. The handgun is also seen used by Lieutenant (later Lieutenant Commander) Harmon "Harm" Rabb, Jr. (David James Elliott), Lieutenant Junior Grade Meg Austin (Tracey Needham) and Commander Alison Krennick (Andrea Thompson).

LTJG Meg Austin (Tracey Needham) uses the Beretta in "War Cries" (S1E07).
