Inspector Morse is a British detective drama TV series based on novels by Colin Dexter and starring John Thaw as DCI Morse and Kevin Whately as DS Lewis. Stories are mostly set in Oxford, often connected with the University of Oxford.

Series have two spin-offs: Lewis (2006-2015), depicting now-promoted Inspector Lewis (Kevin Whately), and Endeavour (2012-current), portraying young Morse (Shaun Evans) and set in 1960s.

The following weapons were used in the television series Inspector Morse:

Revolvers

Colt Detective Special

Hugo De Vries (Ian McDiarmid) uses a Colt Detective Special in the climactic scene in "Masonic Mysteries" (S04E04).

Smith & Wesson Model 10HB

In "Promised Land" (S05E05), set in Australia, New South Wales Police personnel, notably Sergeant Scott Humphries (John Jarratt), carry Smith & Wesson Model 10HB revolvers (correct sidearm for early 1990s). Police constable Nora Curtis (Katrina Levon), acting as a bodyguard for Dr. Esther Martin, carries a Model 10HB revolver with 4" barrel and gold medallion grips in "The Day of the Devil" (S07E02).

Enfield No.2 Mk.1*

In "The Day of the Devil" (S07E02) Steven Trevors (Gavin Richards) loads an Enfield No.2 Mk.1* revolver after his wife Holly (Gilly Coman) returns home after her abduction. Later Holly uses this revolver against John Peter Barrie (Keith Allen) but she drops the gun after a single shot, and Barrie takes the revolver and uses it in the climactic scene.

Various revolvers

Various revolvers that aren't clear enough for identification appear throughout the series.

Pistols

Welrod Mark II

In "The Last Enemy" (S03E02) a suppressed gun is the murder weapon. Pathologist identified the bullet as .32 caliber, and DS Lewis claims that suppressed pistol in .32 caliber must be a Welrod Pistol, that Lewis had seen in local war museum. The screen gun is seen only partially but what is seen matches Welrod Mark II. It's worth noting that in the assassination scene the gun is shown firing too fast for real bolt-action Welrod: after two initial shots that are separated by a period of time, three or four more shots follow in semi-auto mode, one by one.

Walther PPK

In the opening scene in "Deceived by Flight" (S03E03) Anthony Donn (Daniel Massey) holds a Walther PPK. In the climactic scene in "The Day of the Devil" (S07E02) Dr. Esther Martin (Harriet Walter) uses a Walther PPK. Her pistol is then seen in hands of John Peter Barrie (Keith Allen). In "Twilight of the Gods" (S07E03) DS Lewis confiscates a Walther PPK from "Clergyman" Williams (Doug Bradley) when the latter is arrested.

Star Model B

Paul Matthews (Con O'Neill) carries a Star Model B in "Promised Land" (S05E05).

Percussion Cap Pistol

A kind of a Percussion Cap Pistol is an exhibit on "Crime and Punishment in Victorian Times" exhibition in "The Wench Is Dead" (S11E01).

A Webley Bulldog revolver and a percussion cap pocket pistol are seen on the exhibition.

Rifles

Bolt Action Rifle

Two bolt action rifles, both with sniper scopes, are seen among the guns of the forester George Henderson (George Irving) in "The Secret of Bay 5" (S03E04). In the climactic scene in "The Day of the Devil" (S07E02) bolt action sniper rifles are seen in hands of police personnel. In "The Way Through the Woods" (S08E01) forester David Michaels (Neil Dudgeon) owns a rifle with sniper scope that is described as chambered in .243 caliber (.243 is popular in UK as it is minimum caliber for deer-stalking).

One more long gun, possibly also rifle but semi-auto rather than bolt action, is also seen in Henderson's gun rack.

Enfield Pattern 1853

In one scene in "The Wench Is Dead" (S11E01), set in Oxford in 1859, soldiers around the gallows hold Enfield Pattern 1853 rifles with bayonets.

Shotguns

Double Barreled Shotgun

A Double Barreled Shotgun is one of the guns of the forester George Henderson in "The Secret of Bay 5" (S03E04). In "The Way Through the Woods" (S08E01) forester David Michaels (Neil Dudgeon) owns a double barreled shotgun that is used by his wife Cathy Michaels (Michelle Fairley) in the climactic scene.

Pump Action Shotgun

A pump action shotgun is one of the guns of the forester George Henderson in "The Secret of Bay 5" (S03E04). It bears resemblance with Remington 870 but it's hard to say for sure.

Assault Rifles

AR-15

In the climactic scene in "Promised Land" (S05E05) two snipers of New South Wales Police use M16-style assault rifles of unclear model (possibly semi-auto civilian version of AR-15), fitted with sniper scopes.
