In this Corner of the World (この世界の片隅に Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni) is a 2016 anime movie directed by Sunao Katabuchi (Black Lagoon) based on the manga of the same name by Fumiyo Kono. The 18-year-old Suzu grew up in Hiroshima and has just married the still quite young military employee Shusaku Houjou. Together with her husband, she moves to the small town of Kure near a naval base. Although Japan is at war, the young family can live there in a serene and decent, if simple, life. But gradually, the war is getting closer and finally fall in Kure the bombs, which result Suzu lost her right hand. More and more Suzu realizes that her life will soon change forever. The young woman, however, is determined not to let the everyday danger and the scarcity of food spoil her lust for life and the sense of beautiful things.

Cruiser Aoba

The Japanese heavy cruiser Aoba is also stationed in Kure on which Suzu's childhood friend Tetsu is on board.

The cruiser is under attack during the Battle of Leyte Gulf near Manila. A Type 96 AT/AA gun in triple mounting can be seen on the left and the two 8in (203mm)/50-cal guns turrets in the center.
The ship settled on the bottom of shallow Kure harbor in November 1945.

Nambu Holster

Two Kenpeitais carry holsters for Nambu Type 14 pistols.
