Heckler & Koch P9S

During the first season, LAPD Det. Sgt. Rick Hunter (Fred Dryer) carries a Heckler & Koch P9S with muzzle compensator, also seen during the opening credits.

During the first two seasons, Hunter's partner Dee Dee McCall (Stepfanie Kramer) carries a Walther PPK with white grips.

A Coronado Springs, Texas deputy holds a Smith & Wesson Model 66 on Hunter, McCall, and Wally in "A Long Way From L.A." (1.04).

Coronado Springs, Texas Sheriff Jake Cutter (Bo Svenson) carries a Smith & Wesson Model 67 in "A Long Way From L.A." (1.04). In a continuity error, this often switches between a Model 67 and a Model 66.

Winchester Model 70

After Hunter and McCall pick up Wally in "A Long Way From L.A." (1.04), Sheriff Cutter (Bo Svenson) shoots at them with his Winchester Model 70, which he had previously stated was the .30-06 rifle stolen by Wally for his escape. Hunter (Fred Dryer) fires a shot from it into a barrel, extracting the bullet to prove that Cutter's rifle had killed Wally.

LAPD Sgt. Rick Hunter (Fred Dryer) uses a stainless .44 Magnum Desert Eagle with an extended barrel during the pilot episode and some episodes of the second season. The Desert Eagle is explained to be a gift from his Mafia father at his graduation.
