The Hound of the Baskervilles is a British 1983 made for TV detective movie, based on the famous novel by Arthur Conan Doyle. It is directed by Douglas Hickox and stars Ian Richardson as Sherlock Holmes and Donald Churchill as Dr. Watson. This is the first of two 1983 Holmes movies with Ian Richardson, followed by The Sign of Four.

Revolvers

Webley .455 Mk VI

In several scenes, including the night scene in Baskerville Hall, Dr. John Watson (Donald Churchill) holds a Webley .455 Mk VI revolver, not fitting for the Victorian era.

Watson takes his revolver when he prepares to leave to Baskerville Hall, and carelessly points the gun at Holmes who mockingly raises hands.

A good view of Watson's Webley Mk VI in the night scene in Baskerville Hall. Later, during the hunt for Selden, the revolver switches to Webley "WG" (see below).

Watson threatens the suspicious beggar, not knowing that this is disguised Holmes. His revolver again is a Mk VI.

The grip of Watson's revolver is seen when he and Holmes find tied Beryl Stapleton.

Webley "WG" Army Model

In the scenes on the marshes Dr. Watson's revolvers switches to a more appropriate Webley "WG" Army Model. Sherlock Holmes (Ian Richardson) takes Watson's revolver when he pursues Stapleton in the final scene.

During the night hunt for Selden on the marshes, Watson holds a Webley "WG" revolver.

Webley .455 Mk III

In the final scene Jack Stapleton (Nicholas Clay) uses a compact Webley revolver of .455 series. Mk III seems to be the best guess though Mk IV or Mk V are also possible.

Parts of the cylinder cam can be seen; their shape allows to exclude pre-Mk III models.

Rifles

Lee-Metford Mk. II / Lee-Enfield Mk. I

Soldiers, patrolling the countryside during the hunt after escaped convict Selden, carry Lee-Metford or pre-SMLE Lee-Enfield rifles (Lee-Metford Mk. II* and Lee-Enfield Mk. I are externally identical).

Double Barreled Shotgun

Double Barreled Shotguns are seen in hands of police constables, patrolling the countryside.

Cane Gun

A cane gun is used by disguised Stapleton (Nicholas Clay) in an attempt on Sir Henry Baskerville. The cane gun is loaded with a revolver cartridge.
