In the beginning of the movie Tom (Christian Slater) draws a Smith & Wesson M66 4 inch from his duty belt in the movie start to protect the money. When he goes to the van’s back the gun is in his hand but in the next scene he hasn't got it and he’s constricted to run to avoids Jim’s men.
