Grindhouse (2007)

Grindhouse is a Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino double feature released in 2007 consisting of feature films, Death Proof and Planet Terror that were interspersed with mock trailers for fictional Grindhouse films. These trailers were directed by several well-known horror directors such as Rob Zombie, Eli Roth, Edgar Wright, as well as by Robert Rodriguez. In keeping with the "grindhouse" feel, the main films and fake trailers were presented digitally scratched and blurred. The two feature films were eventually released in their full length form on DVD in 2007 and then the entire "Grindhouse" experience in 2010. The mock trailers Machete and Hobo with a Shotgun would also be expanded into full length features.

Feature film segments

For the weapons featured in the feature film segments, please visit the Planet Terror and the Death Proof pages.

Machete

Machete is the first fake trailer seen in Grindhouse as well as being featured on the Planet Terror DVD release. It was directed by Robert Rodriguez and starring Danny Trejo as the title character, a Mexican assassin who exacts revenge on the ones who betrayed him. The trailer also featured Jeff Fahey and Cheech Marin. A feature film based on this trailer will be released in theaters in 2010.

Interdynamic KG-9 / Intratec TEC-9

Intratec TEC-9

After the senator hires Machete, the camera pans on several guns. This scene is similar to Escape from New York, which John Carpenter directed. Robert Rodriguez also uses music scores similar to John Carpenter themes during the film (and even one theme from Escape from New York). Interdynamic KG-9 / Intratec TEC-9 (which was used in another Carpenter film - Big Trouble in Little China) clearly visible.

Walther P99

A heavily customized Walther P99 can be seen on a table of guns set out for Machete. What is supposed to be the P99 is in actually a Walther Nighthawk, a CO2 airgun.

Walther P99AS - .40SW (note the front part of the slide being more robust)
The pistol on the left with the scope and rail is a "P99" or Walther Nighthawk.

Walther P22

A customized stainless Walther P22 is also among the weapons set out for Machete.

The handgun with the chrome slide in the middle is the P22.

Colt M1911A1

A stainless Colt M1911A1 is also among the weapons set out for Machete.

Mossberg 500 "Persuader" with standard five-shot magazine tube - 12 gauge.

Father Del Toro (Cheech Marin) using two sawed-off Mossberg 500 shotguns to kill senators henchman as a help for Machete.

The Priest (Cheech Marin) holds a Mossberg 500 shotgun and a S&W Model 3000 shotgun. Both shotguns had longer ribbed 'field' barrels that had been cut down.
"Please God, have mercy."

Smith & Wesson 3000 Shotgun

Smith & Wesson 3000 shotgun - 12 Gauge.

The Priest (Cheech Marin) also holds a Smith & Wesson Model 3000 Shotgun - 12 gauge.

"God has mercy." The aimed shotgun in this shot is a S&W 3000 Shotgun
"I don't."

M134 Minigun

General Electric M134 - 7.62x51mm

Machete is seen using an M134 Minigun mounted on a bike.

"They just Fucked with the Wrong Mexican"
"If your gonna hire Machete to kill the bad guy, You better make damn sure the bad guy isn't you!"
Anyone who questions this is a pussy!

Machete's Jacket

Don't

Don't is a fake horror (very British horror, similar to the Hammer films, but mixed with slasher motives) trailer directed by British director and starring, among others, Wright's favorites Nick Frost and Simon Pegg as "The Baby-Eater" and bearded cannibal in glasses. There are actually no firearms in the trailer, at least obvious, but the movie takes place in the old mansion and there can be rifles hanging on the wall, or something - the quality (with all of the specially made scratches and blurring) can just hide them from the unarmed eye.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a fake slasher trailer directed by Eli Roth, parodying such holiday-themed horror films such as Halloween and starring Michael Biehn, Jay Hernandez, Eli Roth himself and his childhood friend Jeff Rendell as the serial killer known as the Pilgrim. The situation with the firearms is very similar to "Don't", it's unclear is there any firearms, but there's even more possibilities to spot the gun somewhere - one scene with a Thanksgiving parade and they're usually guarded by police.

Werewolf Women of the SS

Werewolf Women of the SS is a fake Nazisploitation trailer directed by and featuring not only the B-Movie cult stars such as Udo Kier, Tom Towles, Sybil Danning, Bill Moseley, Sheri Moon Zombie but also Nicolas Cage (who as a favor for director acted in his sequence for free) in a surprise cameo as Fu Manchu.

The following weapons were used in the trailer:

Mauser Karabiner 98k

Karabiner 98k - German manufacture 1937 date - 7.92x57mm Mauser

Karabiner 98k rifles were seen in the hands of the German soldiers guarding Death Camp 13 and also in the archive footage which shown with the text in the beginning.

The rifles can be seen in the archive footage, just after the Hitler appears.

And the last shot of the rifles in the archive footage sequence.

-

In the original footage rifles can be seen very briefly. Here - in the hands of the guard.

Here in the hands of the soldiers.

-

Here in the hands of German patrol members (played by historical reconstruction enthusiasts)

-

And finally, in the hands of a soldier who examines the burning wreckage of a USAAF bomber.

MG42

MG42 Light Machine Gun 7.92x57mm Mauser

An MG42 general purpose machine gun was seen in the hands of the German officer (played by Michael Deak, special make-up artist and actor, who collaborated with Rob Zombie on his previous and next films), transformed into werewolf. The same shot of him firing the gun was seen three times in the film.

In addition -strange-looking muzzle flash.

MP40

MP40 submachine gun - 9x19mm

Though being one of the most infamous weapons of Nazis, MP40 can be glimpsed very briefly in the hands of the same werewolf.

Werewolf's MP40 is on the right side of the image.

Walther P38

Walther P38 pistol (manufactured at the Mauser Factory) - World War II dated - 9x19mm

Walther P38 (muzzle flash is hiding the barrel, so it quite difficult to say what it is actually) seen briefly in the hands of Lt. Boorman (Tom Towles).

Hobo with a Shotgun

Hobo with a Shotgun is a fake action film trailer directed by Canadian filmmaker and featuring David Brunt in the title role of the hobo turned vigilante. This trailer won the "South by Southwest" contest put on by Robert Rodriguez and was featured in some select screenings of Grindhouse in the United States and Canada, as well as DVD release of the movie. This trailer is also currently made into a full length film awaiting release in 2011 with Rutger Hauer as the title character and Brunt in cameo as the cop.

Ithaca Model 37 20-gauge shotgun

Hobo (David Brunt) used an Ithaca 37 20-gauge shotgun, bought in the shop, to kill various criminals, including corrupt cops, shop robbers and a pedophile in Santa Claus suit.

Another close-up.
Unbelievable price.
Hobo aims his shotgun on a pedophile in Santa Claus suit...
and then shoots out his brains. The trailer was made very cheap and fast, so muzzle flashes mostly CGI.
I just can't stop posting the cool pics. :) Anyway, the shotgun is one of the key parts for the movie and the Hobo character itself so, i think, it deserves a few more screenshots.
Hobo reloads his gun using the same impressive one-handed method that was used by Padre in another fake trailer - "Machete". His strange look is a result of being tortured.

M16A1 Rifle

M16A1 Rifle.

The prostitute/hitman girl (Cadence Macmichael) is seen firing a M16A1 Rifle.

The girl aims her M16 (most likely - on Hobo).
The girl fires her M16.

MAC-10

Ingram MAC-10.

Strange machine pistol, most likely MAC-10 without magazine (so that it looks a little like Micro Uzi) is seen twice in the movie, used by mugger in the shop and the same hitman girl, that used M16A1 Rifle (though, she's in the different costume).

The robber on the right is holding a MAC-10, the one on the left is holding an unidentified pistol and the one in the center (Glen Matthews) holds a hostage (Loretta Yu) with a machete. It's strange, how many coincidences with "Machete" this trailer was made separately, without knowledge of Rodriguez's trailer.
The girl is shot by Hobo with MAC-10 in her hand.

Beretta 92FS

One of the muggers uses a Beretta 92FS, that can barely be identified because of the quality and specially made scratches/blurring of the trailer.

Beretta 92FS - 9x19mm.
The gun itself in the hands of the mugger.
The mugger threatens the store clerk (Zoe Dunsworth) with his pistol (the clearest image of that gun in the entire trailer).
The mugger becomes the Hobo's first victim, being shot while holding his gun on the store clerk.

M1911

The Pimp (Mike Jackson) is seen with an original M1911, while screaming to a hitmen that he wants the Hobo dead.
