The Grenade Mle 1915 "Bertrand is a French tear gas grenade developed during the First World War. It is made of an iron shell containing four metal spikes and a glass bulb filled with ethyl bromoacetate; when thrown the spikes shatter the bulb releasing the gas. It was rather unpopular with soldiers since bulb could accidentally shatter while on the move.
