East West 101 (2008)

East West 101 is a critically acclaimed and award winning Australian drama series airing on the SBS network. The series is set around the Major Crime Squad in metropolitan Sydney, Australia. The series key armourer is John Bowring.


The following guns were used in series one through to three of East West 101:


Hand Guns

Glock 22

The Glock 22 is the standard NSW Police Force issue sidearm and used by the cast during the series.

Glock 17

Generation 2 Glock 17's can be seen in series one standing in for Glock 22's on occasion.

A Generation 2 Glock 17 in 9mm. This model added finger stepping and cuts to the backstrap of the frame to make it easier to hold than the Generation 1 model.

Taurus PT92AFS

A Taurus PT92AFS is used by a gunman during a drive-by shooting in series one, episode three Islander Sacrifice. It also appears in the hands of a terrorist is series two, episode two, a A Prodigal Fear.

Used by a robber in the very first episode of series one in a flashback scene where Detective Zane Malik recalls his father being shot.

Browning BDA 380

The Browning BDA 380 is used by many criminals throughout the series. Malik carries one whilst working under-cover in episode nine "Just Cargo".

Smith & Wesson Model 10 with three inch barrel

The Smith & Wesson Model 10 with three inch barrel is used by armored van security guards in episode one of series three and also by offenders in other episodes/series.

Used by a "motorcycle criminal" in the episode "Jerusalem" to murder two gang members and near the end of the episode.

Found in a gutter and was taken as evidence in the episode "Jerusalem".

M16A1 with A2 style handguards

At least two M16A2 'style' rifles are carried by tactical officers with one having an unknown scope fitted atop the carrying handle. A similar looking rifle is also seized by police in episode 10 "Ice in the Veins". Possibly an M16A1 with A2 style handguards. Putting the distinctive A2 handguards on the older rifle was a method used by Movie/TV armorers to simulate A2 rifles when M16A1s were the only ones available.

Norinco Type 56

Seized by police in episode 10 "Ice in the Veins". PMCs were also seen holding them in photos in Series Three. One was also seen on a desk in the Series Three finale.

Zastava M70

It appears that both the Zastava M70AB2 folding stock rifle and M70B1 (fixed) stock are used to represent fully automatic "AK-47's" during episode 1 of series 3 during "The Heist". In episode 2 of series 3, a number of them were also seized by police along with some RPK machine guns.

Both the Remington 870 and the Benelli M3 Super 90 are used by members of the Tactical Operations Unit in episode 1 during the raid on two premises.

A M18A1 Claymore is us used as part of a car bomb during the opening sequence of episode one of series two. Claymore feature throughout series two and can be seen in episode nine "Just Cargo" and in episode ten "Ice in the Veins".
