Dead or Alive is an ultra-violent Yakuza direct-to-video film. Dead or Alive is the first of 3 films in the trilogy. Each film has nothing in common except for the fact they are directed by Takashi Miike and star Riki Takeuchi and Sho Aikawa as the two leads.

A weird shot of Chen's MAC-11 showing that the flash does not match the barrel of the gun, leaving one to believe that the weapon is a Japanese 'blowback' non-gun, firing their proprietary blanks, and that the flash has been added in later in post production.
