Dark Sun (Temné slunce)

Dark Sun (Original title: Temné slunce) is a 1982 Czech film directed by Otakar Vávra. It is a remake of his film Krakatit (1948). It is a contemporary update of the literary classic Krakatit by Karel Čapek about the absurdity of war and potential abuses of science. Ing. Prokop (Radoslav Brzobohatý) makes a remarkable discovery. His experiments lead to the creation of an explosive with unimaginable destructive powers. he is surrounded by international interests trying to take advantage of the invention for military purposes. Prokop becomes a pilgrim on a road full of devilish temptations, intrigue and frustration, where he meets an unscrupulous and inscrutable girl named Kris (Magda Vásáryová). The film is similar to the original film adaptation, but updated for the actual political situation of the early 1980s associated with the invention of the neutron bomb.
