The Cristobal M2 is an assault rifle/carbine hybrid designed by Hungarian Pal Kiraly (who also designed the Kiraly 39M/43M Submachine Gun) after he resettled in the Dominican Republic after the Second World War. Internally, the weapon is similar to the Kiraly 39M/43M, but externally it resembles the Beretta Model 38, which was also manufactured under license by the Dominican Republic.
