Crimson Tide (1995)

Crimson Tide is a 1995 military thriller starring Denzel Washington as LCDR Ron Hunter, the newly assigned executive officer of the US ballistic missile submarine USS Alabama who clashes with CAPT Frank Ramsey, the sub's veteran commanding officer (Gene Hackman) over whether to launch their missiles on Russian targets during the height of tensions between the US and Russia. The film was directed by Tony Scott and co-stars Viggo Mortensen, James Gandolfini, Rocky Carroll and George Dzundza.
