The following guns were used in the film The Cotton Club:

The Cotton Club (1984)

M1911A1

Most of the gangsters in the film use M1911A1s. Dutch Schultz (James Remar) carries a 1911, which he draws several times including his death scene, during which he cocks the gun but drops it before he is able to fire. His lieutenant Otto "Abbadabba" Berman (Allen Garfield) also carries one, most notably seen when Berman is wounded by the bomb and gunmen in the Bamville Club in the opening sequence. Vince "Mad Dog" Dwyer (Nicolas Cage) and his thugs also carry 1911s, one of which is briefly examined by Vince's brother "Dixie" Dwyer (Richard Gere). Frenchy DeMange (Fred Gwynne) draws his to subdue Dutch after Dutch kills Mr. Flynn (John Ryan), who also carried a 1911.

Dixie looks at one of Vince's 1911 pistols.
Arthur, one of Vince's gunmen, looks over at Vince's wife Patsy (Jennifer Grey).
A Cotton Club doorman looks at Dutch's 1911, kicked out the window by Sandman Williams (Gregory Hines).

Walther PPK

Dutch's killer Sol Weinstein (Julian Beck) uses a Walther PPK to shoot Vince's friend. (This is a slight anachronism as the scene takes place in 1930 and the PPK version of the Walther PP wasn't introduced until 1931).

Colt Official Police

A hitman (Mark Margolis) hired by Owney Madden (Bob Hoskins), Frenchy DeMange, and "Lucky" Luciano (Joe Dallesandro) shoots Dutch Schultz with a Colt Official Police revolver in the bathroom of a restaurant.

Thompson M1928

Vince "Mad Dog" Dwyer (Nicolas Cage) fires a Thompson M1928 with a drum magazine in a Harlem nightclub while working for Dutch. When Vince hires thugs to kill Sol, the hitmen use Thompsons in a drive-by from a black sedan. Unfortunately, their wide range of fire kills not only Sol but a young boy on the street (based on an actual event from the life of "Mad Dog" Coll). The hitman who kills Vince (Mark Margolis) also uses a Thompson. Dutch's crew has Thompson gun bullets pumped into them after they've all been shot.
