Confirmed: It is definitely the Colt and not the Remington "Cattleman's Carbine" which is really just a long-barreled pistol with a rear stock added.

The Colt Revolving Rifle Model 1855 was an early repeating rifle design produced in 1855 by the Colt's Manufacturing Company. The design was essentially similar to revolver type pistols, with a rotating cylinder that held five or six rounds in a variety of calibers from .40 to .64 inches.

Colt 1855 Revolving Rifle (percussion) - .44 caliber.

Films

In the John Wayne movie El Dorado, actor Arthur Hunnicut's character, Bull Harris, is carrying a revolving carbine as his main weapon. I do not have a copy of the movie, so I cannot say for certain whether Hunnicut's carbine is Colt Model 1855 or the Remington 1858 "Gentlemen's Carbine" such as was used in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

It's the Colt Model 1855.

Video Games

Confirmed: It is definitely the Colt and not the Remington "Cattleman's Carbine" which is really just a long-barreled pistol with a rear stock added.
