Cold Winter is a first-person shooter game developed by Swordfish Studios Ltd. and was published by Vivendi Universal Games. It was released exclusively for the PlayStation 2 in 2005 on May 10th in North America and in Europe later that year on June 3rd.
The games story is told from the perspective of former British SAS solider Andrew Sterling, an MI6 operative, who is captured by Chinese forces in the People's Republic of China after a failed mission attempt and is now held inside the political prison of Chang as a POW.
The storyline was written by Warren Ellis.
