Rifles

M16 Variants

The M16 rifle was the main rifle of the U.S. Army soldiers in Vietnam.

XM16E1 rifle with 20 round magazine - 5.56x45mm. What distinguishes it from the original M16 was the addition of the forward assist button and a chrome bolt carrier (which was later dropped with the M16A1).

Sgt. Vinnie "Dog Man" Ventresca (Tom Sizemore) carries an M16A1 in "With a Little Help From My Friends" (S3E07).

SSG Evan "Dodger" Winslow (Jeff Kober) is armed with his M16A1 rifle with mags taped "jungle" style in "China Men" (S3E08).

SP4 Samuel Beckett (Michael Patrick Boatman) carries an M16A1 rifle while in the field in "How to Stay Alive in Vietnam, Part 1" (S3E09).

AKM

The AKM is also used by enemy forces.

Several AK rifles are found in an enemy cache in "Dear China Beach" (S3E03).

Machine Guns

M60

The M60 is seen used by US troops in Vietnam. Other M60 machine guns are seen mounted as doorguns on US Army UH-1 "Huey" helicopters.

The M1911A1 is a handgun frequently seen carried and used by US forces in the series.

Hand Grenades

M26 Hand Grenade

The M26 hand grenade is the more common grenade carried by US troops in the series.

M26 High-Explosive Fragmentation hand grenade

Sgt. Vinnie "Dog Man" Ventresca (Tom Sizemore) finds an M67 Hand Grenade in "With a Little Help From My Friends" (S3E07).

What appears to be an M67 Hand Grenade is thrown to the ground in "With a Little Help From My Friends" (S3E07). The blue "spoon" indicates that this was a training grenade.

M79 Grenade Launcher

The M79 grenade launcher is seen carried and used by US troops.
