J. Lee Thompson (full name John Lee Thompson, August 1, 1914 – August 30, 2002) was a British-born director who from 1950 to 1989 directed 45 movies, which included British and American productions. His directing credits include The Guns of Navarone (1961), Cape Fear (1962), Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972), Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973). He also directed nine films that starred Charles Bronson, including St. Ives (1976) and Death Wish 4: The Crackdown (1987).
