Carlito's Way: Rise to Power is a 2005 direct-to-video prequel to the 1993 film Carlito's Way. In the prequel, Jay Hernandez takes over the role of Carlito Brigante, the character played by Al Pacino in the original film. The film's cast also includes Mario Van Peebles and Sean "P. Diddy" Combs.

Smith & Wesson Model 36

Many mobsters in the film, including Artie Bottolota Sr. (Burt Young) and his son Artie Bottolota Jr. (Domenick Lombardozzi), carry Smith & Wesson Model 36 snubnoses. Reggie (Mtume Gant) also has one, notably seen when he kidnaps Artie Jr. and during his stand-off with Carlito and Nacho.
