The Avengers (1998)

The Avengers is a 1998 feature film adaptation of the 1960's British spy series of the same name. The film was directed by Jeremiah S. Chechik (Tall Tale) and Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman take on the roles of John Steed and Mrs. Emma Peel, respectively, with Sean Connery co-starring as the villain Sir August de Wynter. Patrick Macnee, the original John Steed, "appears" in the film, playing an invisible character, but Diana Rigg, the original Emma Peel, turned down a cameo. The original cut of the film clocked in at 115 minutes, but the studio chopped it down to only 87 minutes after a disastrous test screening. The final cut was a disorganized mess, incoherent and full of plot holes, and the premiere was moved from June of 1998 to August, with no previews for critics. Although the film is largely forgotten today, it did force Disney to release the 2012 film The Avengers as Marvel Avengers Assemble in the UK market. (Although both films did feature a hot redhead beating people up in a black leather catsuit.)

The following weapons were used in the film The Avengers (1998):

Ralph Fiennes' stuntman, who doesn't really look like Ralph Fiennes, fires an unmodified Uzi from the back of Emma's Jaguar.
This time, it's actually Ralph Fiennes, but the Uzi has some fake barrels attached to look like the fake minigun.
