Army of Shadows is a 1969 French film directed by Jean-Pierre Melville chronicling a group of French resistance fighters between October 1942 and February 1943.

The following firearms were used in the film Army of Shadows:

Army of Shadows (1969)

MAS-36

The Vichy French officers in the film all carry MAS-36 rifles.

Two Vichy French officers accompany Gerbier to his room in the first camp.

MP40

Many Nazi German guards throughout the film carry MP40 submachine guns.

A guard stands with an MP40 as Gerbier is led into a room to wait for the Gestapo agents.
The guard's MP40 is silhouetted as Gerbier watches the radio operators.
The guard stands with his MP40.
Two MP40-carrying guards open the door to Felix and Jean-François's cell to let the doctor examine Felix.

M1911

M1911 pistols are the main sidearms of most of the resistance fighters, including Philippe Gerbier (Lino Ventura), Félix Lepercq (Paul Crauchet), and ex-legionnaire Guillaume "Le Bison" Vermersch (Christian Barbier). Since they are funded and supplied by the British in the film, with Philippe and Felix once even mentioning that the British were supposed to supply them with silencers, it can be assumed that the M1911 pistols were also British surplus.

Félix prepares to execute an informant with his M1911.
Gerbier reaches for the M1911 inside his writing desk.
Le Bison draws his M1911 from inside his jacket.
Le Bison fires his M1911 at an informant on the street.

Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless

Gerbier's team of Canadian, Belgian, and British commandos assisting with one of heir missions carries small-caliber pistols resembling Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless pistols.

Gerbier's commandos aim their pistols through the ceiling.

MAS mle. 1935A

Jean-François Jardie (Jean-Pierre Cassel), an ex-pilot resistance fighter, carries a French MAS mle. 1935 pistol as his sidearm.

Karabiner 98k

Several German sentries and guards carry Karabiner 98k rifles.

Rifle-carrying SS guards lead the prisoners, including Gerbier, through the prison.

MG34

An MG34 is set up in the execution chamber of the German prison.

Several SS soldiers man the MG34.

Walther PPK

An SS officer fires his Walther PPK at Gerbier inside the execution chamber.

The officer fires his PPK at Gerbier's legs.
