ArmaLite

About

ArmaLite was founded in the mid-fifties by George Sullivan. Its most well-known product is the AR-10 rifle, which was designed by Eugene Stoner. Although Colt's own, 5.56mm version of the AR-10, the M16 became more popular, the AR-10 is still in production nowadays in various forms and is available to civilians and law enforcement agencies.

In the early 1960s, the AR-18 was introduced, as ArmaLite's answer to the AR-15, however it failed to supersede the Colt rifles.

ArmaLite ceased all operations in the early 1980s, but was later "resurrected" after numerous unsuccessful attempts. New types of weapons were also introduced, including large-caliber sniper rifles and self-loading pistols.
