Release Date: 2013
Developer: United States Army
Publisher: United States Army
Series: America's Army
Platforms: PC, PS4
Genre: First-person shooter

America's Army: Proving Grounds is the sequel to America's Army 3, released in 2013. It is set in the same fictional East European region of Czervenia as America's Army 3, with the background being that the player is an 11B Infantryman practicing combat maneuvers at Joint Training Center Griffin located in the region for future operations.

The game is multiplayer-only and more streamlined to emphasizes small unit tactical maneuvers, but still realistic overall. Like the first game, players always see themselves as the US Army, and see their opponents as the OPFOR faction. Originally, weapons in the OPFOR armory can only be picked up from dead enemies and usable only in that game. Following the March 13th, 2018 update on the PS4 and the April 12th, 2018 update on the PC, OPFOR weapons are added to the equipment customization menu. They can be used if the player first "secures" them by eliminating enemies wielding them, so despite their availability, they're still more or less faction exclusive.

US Army weapons and optics are closely modeled after real equipment, while OPFOR weapons and optics are stylized portrayals of real weapons and optics.

The following weapons appear in the video game America's Army: Proving Grounds

Beretta 92F/FS

Shotguns

Remington 870 MCS

The US Army shotgun is the Remington 870 MCS.

A weird modified model is used on a piece of in-game graphic; the MCS here has a shortened barrel and magazine tube, roughly at the length of the Remington 870 MCS Entry, though it still has small rails on the short bit of barrel it has like on the full-length MCS.

Browning Buck Mark Micro Bull Stainless

The Browning Buck Mark Micro Bull Stainless with a wooden grip appears as the "CZ2", and is the standard OPFOR handgun. It is a counterpart to the Beretta, and holds 15+1 rounds. It could also be unlocked for use by the US Army by completing an achievement ("Zippyity Doo Dah", which was unlocked after ziptying 1,000 downed enemies to secure them and prevent them being revived by teammates) but after the stat servers were shut down, is now unlocked for all players by default.

Additionally, the visually altered in-game model also has the dust cover extended over the rear half of the ejection port, leaving it comically tiny and seemingly mispositioned.
