Alan Wake 2 is 2023 survival horror game developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by Epic Games, a direct sequel to 2010's Alan Wake, and set in the same universe as Remedy's previous game Control.

13 years after famed crime novelist Alan Wake disappeared, FBI Special Agent Saga Anderson is dispatched to the small town of Bright Falls, Washington to investigate a series of grisly ritualistic murders. Amidst her investigation, which quickly takes unexpected and terrifying turns, Saga finds pages of a manuscript detailing the events of her investigation as well as events yet to pass. All the while, Alan Wake remains trapped in the otherworldly Dark Place, trying to write an exit through Saga's adventure in the real world.

The following weapons appear in the video game Alan Wake 2:

Overview

In contrast to the more action-horror themed gameplay of previous installments, Alan Wake 2 is more survival horror in its presentation. Inventory management akin to the Resident Evil series must be performed, with various supplies found throughout the game world, along with slower-paced combat. As in previous games, the primary enemies are "Taken"- humans, animals, and objects possessed by a dark force, who are vulnerable to light. Players control two protagonists, Saga Anderson and Alan Wake, who each have unique weapons. Saga can upgrade her weapons using manuscript fragments found throughout the game.

Each weapon also has different animations when used in conjunction with a flashlight. Handguns are held with a flashlight using the Harries technique.

Handguns

Colt Python

The Colt Python with a 4" barrel returns from the previous two games, and is Alan's signature sidearm. It is once again simply known as "Revolver". It shares generic "pistol ammunition" pickups with the Glock 19, which are marked as 9x19mm rounds. It is automatically acquired in Initiation 2: Casey.

Alan holds his Python at the ready in a rare well-lit safe haven.
Aiming with a proper thumbs-forward grip- seems all of Alan's research for his crime novels paid off.
Reloading- rounds are dumped out and re-upped via speedloader.

Glock 19

Saga Anderson's sidearm is the "Service Pistol," based on the Glock 19. It is the first weapon the player acquires. A slightly modified version of the Glock 19, known as the Glock 19M, is the current-issue FBI sidearm.

The upgrade menu for each gun depicts a fictitious gun magazine cover. This one depicts the Glock 19, with its apparent in-universe name being the "PGC321". Note the slanted rear cocking serrations.
During a Cauldron Lake sunset, Saga holds the Glock 19 at the ready.
Aiming at distant Mirror Peak.
Reloading, which involves dropping the magazine, loading a new one, and releasing the slide- which unfortunately locks back even if there are still rounds in the magazine. Still, the reload is significantly more detailed than ones in some of Remedy's earlier third-person games, such as Quantum Break.

Shotguns

Double Barreled Shotgun

The sole long gun available to Alan is a full-length 12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun.

Sawed-Off Double Barrel Shotgun

The first long gun Saga acquires is a Sawed-Off Double Barreled Shotgun under the name "Sawed-off Shotgun". It is found in Return 2: The Heart, in a locked case shortly after the first encounter with a Taken.

The upgrade magazine for the sawed-off apparently encourages a very illegal method of obtaining a short-barreled shotgun- ironic considering the magazine's tagline is "a layman's guide to navigating US [gun] ownership laws".
Finding herself on an ominous fog-shrouded mountain trail, Saga holds the sawed-off shotgun close by. All long guns are held in this manner when idle, with the left hand used for the character's flashlight.
Sighting up a local copse of trees.
Reloading in a rather predictable fashion. Both shells are removed even if only one barrel was fired.

Other

Crossbow

An unknown make of crossbow is available to Saga, found in Return 3: Local Girl in one of cult stashes. Per video game tradition regarding crossbows, it deals immense damage to single targets, but is hampered by its long reload times.
