Al Capone (1959)

The following firearms can be seen in the film Al Capone:

Colt Detective Special

Colt Detective Specials are the handgun of choice for most characters in the film, despite it being an anachronistic choice for the scenes prior to 1927. John Scalise (Ron Soble) and Albert Anselmi (Steve Gravers), Capone's main triggermen, carry Detective Specials in shoulder holsters. Dion O'Banion (Robert Gist), an early rival of Capone's, notably carries three. Capt. Schaefler (James Gregory), of the Chicago Police Department, keeps one as his primary sidearm as well. When Capone (Rod Steiger) arrives in Philadelphia, he and his bodyguard are arrested for each carrying one concealed, although we never see Capone actually handling one within the film.

Colt Detective Special 1st Gen - .38 Special

Torrio's bodyguard draws a Detective Special when Capone enters Torrio's office for the first time in 1919.

Scalise and Anselmi with their Detective Specials during the Big Jim Colosimo hit in 1920.

Weiss is shot by an assassin disguised as a hot dog vendor wielding a Detective Special.

Thompson M1921AC

Beginning in 1924, the Thompson M1921AC is seen as the main instrument of gangland violence, notably used by Scalise (Ron Soble) and Anselmi (Steve Gravers) during the infamous 1929 St. Valentine's Day Massacre. George "Bugs" Moran (Murvyn Vye) and Earl "Hymie" Weiss (Lewis Charles) also handle Thompsons throughout.

Scalise and Anselmi fire their Thompsons during the St. Valentine's Day Massacre

Double Barreled Shotgun

Moran (Murvyn Vye) pulls out a Double Barreled Shotgun inside O'Banion's flower shop. Weiss (Lewis Charles) later uses this shotgun as retaliation against Torrio for O'Banion's murder.

Moran checks the shotgun as Weiss puts down his Thompson.

Winchester Model 1897

Moran ([Murvyn Vye]]) and his gangsters use Winchester Model 1897 shotguns in both the assassination attempts on Torrio and Capone.

Moran holds the Winchester '97 as Weiss tells him to prepare.

Smith & Wesson Model 10

Capone's assassins dressed as policemen during the St. Valentine's Day Massacre in 1929 carry Smith & Wesson Model 10 revolvers.

Smith & Wesson Model M&P Revolver with 5" Barrel - .38 Special

A "policeman" lets Scalise and Anselmi into the garage.
