The 100 is a science fiction television series that premiered in 2014 in the US on the CW Network.  The series is set 97 years following a devastating nuclear war that has decimated all life on earth, or that is what is assumed by the denizens of a massive orbiting space station, created by merging several space stations held by multiple nations into one city in space.  Now that they are running out of resources, the occupants decide to try their hand at returning to a post apocalyptic earth, rife with unknown dangers and inhabitants.  The 100 refers to the first 100 people who were sent back to earth to test the viability of life 'on the ground', made up of mostly teen and young adults serving prison terms for various crimes. The 100 Season 2 was released on October 22nd, 2014.

Through most of Season 1, survivors of the original 100 used Colt M4A1 rifles that they salvage from an old weapons storage cache that was hidden over a century prior to their landing.  Until the arrival of reinforcements, these are the only firearms used by the people from the space station (referred to by the natives as "the Sky People") while on the ground.  Most notable users of the M4 Carbine during the first battles with the "Grounders" were Bellamy Blake (Bob Morley), Octavia Blake (Marie Avgeropoulos), Jasper Jordan (Devon Bostick), Christopher Larkin (Monty Green ), Raven Reyes (Lindsey Morgan), Finn Collins (Thomas McDonell) and John Murphy (Richard Harmon), though many minor and single episode characters carried them during the first war with the Grounders in Season 1.
